The Rubico Phantom is RHYNO’s monochromatic interpretation of the mechanical pilot chronograph—an instrument defined by stealth, architecture, and controlled contrast.
Its 42mm stainless steel case is protected by a black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating, creating a hardened exterior with a deep, technical finish. Directional brushing emphasizes the geometry of the Rubico case, while polished bevels catch light selectively, revealing the architecture without compromising the Phantom’s dark character.
The dial continues the same philosophy. A textured black surface creates depth beneath blackened applied hour markers, hands, and chronograph registers. Rather than relying on conventional high contrast, the Phantom uses subtle changes in texture, finish, and reflection to separate each element of the display.
Selective red accents punctuate the otherwise monochromatic composition, drawing the eye toward the chronograph functions and reinforcing the Rubico’s aviation-instrument DNA. The result is a watch that appears almost completely black at first glance, yet reveals increasing mechanical and architectural detail as light moves across its surfaces.
Powering the Rubico Phantom is the Swiss ETA 7753 Élaboré Grade automatic chronograph movement. Renowned for its reliability, robust construction, and proven chronograph architecture, the ETA 7753 provides an appropriate mechanical foundation for a watch conceived as a functional instrument.
Anti-reflective coated sapphire protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition case back reveals the Swiss mechanical movement within. The contrast between the Phantom’s restrained exterior and visible mechanical architecture reinforces the principle at the center of the Rubico: performance first, decoration with purpose.
A 22mm black rubber strap completes the design, extending the case’s uninterrupted black architecture onto the wrist while providing durability and comfort for everyday wear.
